ServiceMaster Facilities Maintenance of Memphis has established a Mid-South Community College scholarship program to encourage students in the MSCC Technical Center to pursue additional education after high school graduation.

Administered by the Mid-South Community College Foundation, the ServiceMaster Facilities Maintenance Technical Scholarship fund supports the awarding of two $250 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have completed one of MSCC’s technical programs.

“One of the ServiceMaster goals is to support education,” said Andre Coleman, one of four owners of the local franchise who is also a member of the MSCC Foundation Board.

“Education is very important to the future of our region, and Mid-South Community College has some great students in the Technical Center. We’re hoping this scholarship will encourage more of them to seek college degrees.”

To qualify for the scholarships, students must enroll at MSCC for the fall semester following their high school graduation. Preference will be given to applicants seeking a technical degree.

The award is designed to help meet the financial needs of students who are not eligible for federal grant assistance. The scholarship can be applied toward tuition, fees, and/or books.

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative high school or college GPA of 2.75 and must enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours. Students must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) but must not be eligible to receive federal Pell grant funds. Applicants must also submit a brief summary of his/her educational plans and goals to be considered for the award.
