Holly Chevrolet and Mid-South Community College are teaming up for the second time to give Greyhound fans a chance to shoot for a new fully-loaded Chevrolet Sonic, valued at $20,635.
MSCC supporters 18 and older who attend home games will be able to register for a chance to compete for an opportunity to ride home in style following the Greyhounds’ home finale on Saturday, Feb. 16.
The Sonic, an all-new small car that debuted to nice reviews, ranks as one of the top vehicle options for commuters or families who need a small second car. The vehicle reserved for the MSCC contest features a six-speed automatic transmission, cruise control, remote power door locks, power windows and mirrors, and heated front seats. The gas pump-friendly Sonic gets 37 MPG on the highway.
“We wanted to do something that would encourage people to support the Greyhounds week in and week out,” said Holly Chevrolet owner Lannie Lancaster. “We think this is a great way to generate some additional interest on game day, and we’re excited to have the opportunity to demonstrate our support for Mid-South Community College and the Greyhound basketball program.”
“We greatly appreciate Holly Chevrolet’s ongoing commitment to helping us take Greyhound basketball to another level,” said Jason Carmichael, MSCC Athletic Director. “We’ve established a solid fan base in our first two seasons, and this promotion will help us draw even more people to watch an exciting brand of college basketball.”
People who attend MSCC home games will register for a chance to compete during halftime for a berth in the semi-finals on Feb. 9 at Marion Arena (Mid-South hosts North Arkansas College). Three qualifiers will then have the opportunity to shoot for the vehicle at the end of the home season on Feb. 16 (at Marion Arena, MSCC vs. Arkansas Baptist).
During each home date, selected participants will compete in a total points contest during halftime of one of the games. Contestants will have the option of shooting layups, three-pointers, and/or half-court shots.
Individual game winners will receive a Greyhound T-shirt and will have a chance to capture the grand prize in February. Championship-round qualifiers will have the opportunity to shoot three half-court shots, and anyone who connects on two will win the car.
Employees of Mid-South Community College and Holly Chevrolet are not eligible for the competition.
MSCC will have home games on Nov. 17, Jan. 11, Jan. 12, Feb. 2, Feb. 5, Feb. 9, and Feb. 16 at Patriot Arena in Marion, and Jan. 1, Jan. 4, Jan. 8, Jan. 15, Jan. 17, Feb. 8, Feb. 9, and Feb. 13 at Lehr Arena in West Memphis.
For full schedules, go to the MSCC website at www.midsouthcc.edu and click on MSCC Athletics, and then point to Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds. Team rosters are also available.
In addition to sponsoring the win-the-car competition, Holly Chevrolet has been a platinum-level Athletic Booster Club member since the Greyhound basketball program’s inception.
Mid-South’s men and women will be in action at home this weekend when they host Middle Georgia Technical College on Saturday at Marion Arena. Play begins at 2 p.m. with the Lady Greyhounds taking the floor, and the Greyhounds will follow at approximately 4 p.m.
