ASU Mid-South Offering ‘Dog Pack’ Options for Greyhound Basketball

Arkansas State University Mid-South begins its sixth intercollegiate basketball season on Friday, and area fans and businesses have several options for supporting the 2015-16 Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds.

General admission for games in the Glen F. Fenter Athletic Complex (The Dog House) is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Children under school age are admitted free as are ASU Mid-South students and staff with college ID cards.

Fans looking for an even better deal are encouraged to “Join the Dog Pack.” The “Pack of One” option ($60) includes a season pass to all 26 home games, a Greyhound T-shirt, a basketball poster, and a free bag of popcorn (with additional purchase) at the concession stand.

The “Pack of Two” ($90) offers additional savings and includes two season passes, two T-shirts, a poster and popcorn.

Families will want to take advantage of the third option ($125) which includes four passes, two T-shirts, a poster, four Greyhound pom-poms, two Greyhound Growl Towels, and a bag of popcorn with additional purchase.

All Dog Pack members will also receive the Greyhound Athletics monthly newsletter.
Corporate sponsorships for signage at all of the home games also remain available. Numerous businesses have already joined the pack of Greyhound supporters.

Southland Park Gaming and Racing, Fidelity National Bank, Evolve Bank & Trust, Quality Flooring, and Fidelity Insurance Group return as major signage sponsors, and Zaxby’s of Marion enters the fold as “Three-Point Play” sponsor. The company will feature a Player of the Week on ASU Mid-South’s new digital display in front of the scorer’s table. Hope Credit Union is sponsoring the “Blocked Shot Game Day” feature.

ASU Mid-South’s men are scheduled to play 14 regular-season home games, and the women will play 12.

The men will take on Crowley’s Ridge College’s JV and Blue Mountain College’s JV in this weekend’s Greyhound Tipoff Classic. After that, the ’Hounds will host Northwest Mississippi (Nov. 5), West Kentucky Community and Technical College (Dec. 5), St. Louis Community College (Dec. 12), Arkansas Baptist College (Jan. 9), Blue Mountain College (Jan. 12), North Arkansas College (Jan 16), Faith Prep (Jan. 23 and Feb. 18), Central Baptist College JV (Jan. 25), Bethel College JV (Feb. 1), Champion Baptist College (Feb. 4), and Rhodes College JV (Feb. 15).

The Lady Greyhounds will host Northwest Mississippi (Nov. 5), Shawnee Community College (Nov. 7), John A. Logan College (Nov. 14), Columbia State Community College (Nov. 17), St. Louis Community College and the Lady Tigers Ball Club (Nov. 20-21 in the Lady Greyhounds Classic), Southwest Tennessee (Nov. 30), Jackson State (Dec. 12), Arkansas Baptist (Jan. 9), Northark (Jan. 16), Northeast Mississippi (Jan. 19), and Dyersburg State Community College (Feb. 1).

After completing their first two seasons as a National Junior College Athletic Association Division III program, the Greyhounds stepped up to Division II in 2012-13. The change allowed the college to offer tuition, fee, and book scholarships to student-athletes while giving the Greyhounds a better opportunity to qualify for post-season play. The move also made playoff participation more economically feasible.

Private contributions to the Mid-South Community College Foundation Inc. and proceeds from the Greyhound 5k/Runnin’ Dogs & Cookin’ Cats events cover the cost of the scholarships. The Thomas B. Goldsby Jr. Family (Terry McFarland Athletic Scholarship), Tabetha Bramucci (Harold Patterson Memorial Athletic Scholarship), and Brick Family/Fidelity National Bank (Phillip M. Brick, Sr. Memorial Endowed Athletic Scholarship) have established awards designed to assist student-athletes.

ASU Mid-South’s athletic program became a reality thanks to a 10-year, $250,000 commitment from Southland Park Gaming and Racing.
