Bosch Tool Makes Another Contribution to MSCC Foundation; Workforce Technology Center Room to be Named in Company’s Honor

Robert Bosch Tool Corporation, a decade-long supporter of Mid-South Community College, has made another significant contribution, and the college will acknowledge the gift by naming a conference room in the company’s honor. The high-tech meeting room in the Workforce Technology Center on MSCC’s North Campus will bear the Bosch name and company logo in spring 2012 in recognition of the company’s $25,000 pledge.

“We have enjoyed a wonderful partnership with Bosch for more than 10 years, and we continue to be humbled by their ongoing generosity,” said Dr. Glen Fenter, MSCC president. “Since the day they located here, and even before that, Bosch has actively and regularly supported the efforts of Mid-South Community College. We deeply appreciate their continuing investment in the future of education and workforce training in Crittenden County.”

Vince Longshore, Facility Director of the local Bosch distribution center, said the company’s ongoing commitment to the college fits perfectly with its world-wide involvement in education and training. “If you look at Bosch globally, we do a lot with the continuing education of our associates, so any time we can get involved in the education system, we pursue those opportunities,” Longshore said. “It’s those young minds that we’re teaching and training today that will go on to be the future of our industry as well as other industries that play a big part in what we do in our day-to-day lives.”

“We’ve been involved in the community college for a number of years with tool donations and contributions to scholarship programs, and all of that fits in with the corporate directives of Bosch,” he continued. “Having a relationship with the college is one of the keys to our success. It’s an honor for us to partner with Mid-South Community College, we’re just glad to be a part of what the college is doing to improve our community and our region.”

Marion Littlejohn, Human Resource manager at Bosch, said the timing was optimal for such a commitment from the company. “We wanted to get our name on something at the college, and when we approached corporate about the idea, they thought it would be a great tie in with our 125-year celebration,” Littlejohn pointed out. “We’ve already donated numerous tools to the college to introduce students to the quality of our product, but we wanted to have a room with our name on it. We’re excited to have that opportunity.”

The local Bosch facility is the largest distribution point in North America for Bosch Power Tools and one of the largest distribution points globally. It employs anywhere from 200 to 300 workers, depending on the time of year. “Bosch Power Tools consistently demonstrates the highest level of corporate citizenship,” Dr. Fenter said. “We are very blessed to have companies like Bosch, and they are just one of the many, that continue to support this college.”

Bosch has made significant contributions to the MSCC Foundation in many ways, beginning in 2001 during the Capital Campaign and continuing every year since with funds for books for the Sandra Goldsby Library, power tools for the Workforce Technology Center, dollars for scholarships, and now their new $25,000 pledge to the Foundation.

“You can’t do what we’re doing without great partners, and Bosch Tool Corporation is a great supporter of the opportunities we’re trying to create for world-class training and regional economic development,” Dr. Fenter said. “They have helped us do a number of very positive things for our community and our region.”
