MSCC to Host ‘College Goal Sunday’ Financial Aid Program on February 19

For people who don’t have a clue about how to pay for higher education, Mid-South Community College is offering a special event designed to help them find life-changing answers.
 
On February 19, MSCC will participate in College Goal Sunday, a free nationwide program designed to assist current and future students with the financial aid application process.

MSCC Hosting College Day/Transfer Fair on Feb. 8

Mid-South Community College will host a College Day and Transfer Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 9 a.m.-noon, in the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Educational Excellence on the South Campus. 

“If you have questions about enrolling in college, transferring from MSCC to another institution, what courses are required for your degree, how to apply for admissions, or what scholarships and financial aid are available, this is your opportunity to ask them,” said Jeremy Reece, Director of Enrollment Services at MSCC.

MSCC/STAND Partnership Helping Students Become Effective Leaders

Seventeen Mid-South Community College students are participating in an innovative and action-oriented leadership training program designed to empower them with tools and skills to improve themselves and their communities.

The STAND (Strive Toward A New Direction) Foundation, in partnership with MSCC, is promoting self-sufficiency, civic and community involvement, and good stewardship of resources through the training on the West Memphis campus. STAND is a nonprofit organization with additional Leadership Institute programs in Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Arkadelphia, and El Dorado.

MSCC Receives $23.1 million in High-Tech Software from Siemens

Mid-South Community College has been awarded $23,148,700 in high-tech engineering and design computer programs from Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division. Siemens is a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software which helps turns ideas into successful products by allowing users to digitally author, validate, and manage projects that support continuous innovation.
“We are extremely grateful to Siemens PLM Software for its commitment to advance educational opportunities for our students from Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi,” said Dr. Kyle Wagner, MSCC Vice President for Workforce Technology. “This award is exceptionally valuable because it provides us with the tools to train our students for tomorrow’s jobs on one of the best engineering design software platforms available.”

160+ Students Earn Fall Semester Honors at MSCC

More than 160 Mid-South Community College students from 21 cities and towns in Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi have been named to academic honors lists for the fall 2011 semester.

The President’s List includes 64 students who earned a semester grade-point average of 3.81 to 4.0 in college-credit courses. The Honors List includes 98 students who compiled a GPA of 3.5-3.8 for the fall term.

Students eligible for MSCC academic honors include full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours) and part-time students (6-11 hours) who completed 12 hours of previous course work (prior to the fall 2011 term) and who have earned the required semester GPA.
